Deadlines for this scholarship
An award closing is only the first of the dates that matter. After it there is the deposit that keeps your place, the unconditional offer the funder wants to see before it pays, and a last day to arrive and register. Where the funder publishes none of these, the row says so — a blank is what the official page actually says, not something we have left out.
No closing date published. This funder sets its closing date per country, or opens the call only when the cycle begins. Send us your documents and we will apply the moment your country’s window opens.
Who can apply
Open to foreign (non-German) graduates applying to do a doctorate in Germany, so Pakistan/India/Bangladesh/Gulf nationals are in scope.
What the award is
DAAD's core full-PhD award for foreign graduates to carry out their doctorate at a German state university, paid at EUR 1,400 per month for a maximum of four years, with additional insurance benefits. Applications are submitted online in the DAAD portal and can be made from 1 June onwards. As with the master's line, the page says the closing date is updated annually in the second quarter, so the applicable date is the one published for your country in the portal. Official source: https://www2.daad.de/deutschland/stipendium/datenbank/en/21148-scholarship-database/?detail=57135739 (checked 29 October 2026).Where these dates came from
The DAAD database page for this doctoral line gives no single date: deadlines are country-specific, shown only in the portal's 'Application procedure' tab and 'updated annually in the second quarter' (https://www2.daad.de/deutschland/stipendium/datenbank/en/21148-scholarship-database/?detail=57135739, checked 30 October 2026), so application_deadline is left blank rather than guessed. The portal opens 1 June, funding must begin in 2027, and the stipend is EUR 1,400/month; no scheme tuition/CAS/enrolment date is published.
Deadlines move. Always confirm on the funder's own page before you book anything — the link above is where we read it.
