Trinity College, formally known as the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin, is the sole constituent college of the University of Dublin in Ireland. It is recognised internationally as Ireland's premier university and as one of the world's leading research-intensive universities. Founded in 1592, on the general pattern of the ancient colleges at Oxford and Cambridge, Trinity College Dublin is at the nexus of tradition and innovation, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across 24 schools and three faculties: arts, humanities, and social sciences; engineering, mathematics and science; and health sciences. Trinity College is the oldest university in Ireland and one of the older universities of Western Europe. It is located in the centre of Dublin, Ireland's capital city with a reputation for friendliness and a vibrant social life, Trinity College Dublin is home to technologically advanced libraries, laboratories and IT facilities that have been seamlessly integrated into the beautiful historic campus. Its campus is made up of 51 acres of land in the centre of Dublin, including the Trinity Technology and Enterprise campus.
